"Unhappiness is a direct result of an imbalance between mind and heart.
One such instance is when the heart yearns for something that the mind is aware is unattainable or potentially destructive.
When the person realizes this discrepancy, he subconsciously acknowledges that not all is right in his world
and resultingly spends much of his time trying to even out the imbalance by either attempting to stifle his emotions
or by creating rationalizations in his mind to justify those emotions.
Either way, the mere existence of this conflict between mind and heart hinders the presence of true contentment.
Another case to be observed is when the mind makes the judgement that a certain something is perfect and should be desired
yet for some reason, the heart does not stir. Consequently, the person realizes that something is missing, and soon enough, his desire to HAVE desire becomes a burden. Again, contentment does not reside here.
But... in the rare case when the heart feels for something that the mind approves of, discontent has no room to flourish. As a result, when and ONLY when logic and emotion agree can happiness occur, and this rare balance is what every person painstakingly strives for."
